The OV5640 delivers a complete 5-megapixel camera solution on a
  I* R9 q% b- m# \% \; f) Psingle chip, aimed at offering cost efficiencies that serve the high
volume autofocus (AF) camera phone market. The system-on-a
1 l# `. M% V7 n) n6 Cchip (SOC) sensor features OmniVision's 1.4 micron OmniBSI™
" l( l0 m; m/ E6 Y% J* r3 h+ _backside illumination architecture to deliver excellent pixel
performance and best-in-class low-light sensitivity, while enabling
( h7 ]. k/ E( M" ?ultra compact camera module designs of 8.5 mm x 8.5 mm with
$ N# q. x6 ^' X2 }* Y! l9 _<6 mm z-height. The OV5640 provides the full functionality of a
3 o# S7 f! @: {' N: gcomplete camera, including anti-shake technology, AF control, and
  K( x& O5 V- o2 S  FMIPI while being easier to tune then two-chip solutions, making it
an ideal choice in terms of cost, time-to-market and ease of
5 C3 p* `" e. {platform integration.
! W4 L* L3 |( N7 DThe OV5640 enables 720p HD video at 60 frames per second (fps)
and 1080p HD video at 30 fps with complete user control over
! A6 o. H+ k. v, \formatting and output data transfer. The 720p/60 HD video is
/ {/ F. z7 `9 w/ N6 x% |) Kcaptured in full field of view (FOV) with 2 x 2 binning, which
- C) F2 c" P" r! y( A8 Idoubles the sensitivity and improves the signal-to-noise ratio
9 g! E- H: b! \! t(SNR). Additionally, a unique post-binning re-sampling filter
2 t* A" q3 t3 E; mfunction removes zigzag artifacts around slant edges and
minimizes spatial artifacts to deliver even sharper, crisper
4 B& ^5 R" b/ Z6 Z  H0 wcolor images. To further improve camera performance and user
: {( c5 x) F+ `5 `) v6 rexperience, the OV5640 features an internal anti-shake engine for
( e8 `' R  }0 _image stabilization, and it supports Scalado™ tagging for faster
image preview and zoom.
  V/ p8 f7 o) @The OV5640 offers a digital video port (DVP) parallel interface
0 j" \! @" p- C! |% }and a high-speed dual lane MIPI interface, supporting multiple
: J+ ^% D: G* V" koutput formats. An integrated JPEG compression engine simplifies
data transfer for bandwidth-limited interfaces. The sensor's
automatic image control functions include automatic exposure
control (AEC), automatic white balance (AWB), automatic band
6 b* p) E+ X( n7 F9 Mfilter (ABF), 50/60 Hz automatic luminance detection, and
automatic black level calibration (ABLC). The OV5640 delivers
+ c3 Q$ B  I$ i2 _- e% ?programmable controls for frame rate, AEC/AGC 16-zone
+ \) u  p  ~) J! Osize/position/weight control, mirror and flip, cropping, windowing,
and panning. It also offers color saturation, hue, gamma, sharpness
(edge enhancement), lens correction, defective pixel canceling, and
( D3 P; r! N2 _% m3 Enoise canceling to improve image quality.
